*scratches head*

Are him and Bill Wyman engaged in a competition?

He's a witch and claims to have fucked nearly as many women as Bill Wyman. If true, that's quite interesting.

I do know Roache from the newspapers - he sued someone who suggested he was boring.

He won, and instantly became the most interesting man in the universe...

It wasn't Phelan. I suspect Chesney as the baby was his. Thank me later.

This might be the most pointless and weird argument in WHO history.

I've not been watching it, but I based that on pre-stroke story line he was like a stroke victim before the stroke victim story, anyway this getting complicated and I'm clearly out my depth.

Re: Ken barlow
No, Roache hasn't had a stroke, Barlow has. That's why he now slurs his words, doesn't have any facial expression and is uncharacteristically bad-tempered. Obviously some of that is the writing.

Like him or not, Roache's portrayal of a (minor) stroke recoverer rings absolutely true to me.

Hani 10:51 Mon Mar 27
Re: Ken barlow
I didn't know about the stroke, that makes sense then. As far as actors who have had strokes go he's right up there then fair play to him.

You can steal a living as an actor, but for over 50 years in the same soap?, that is ridiculous.

Re: Ken barlow
Well, after tonights 'dramatic' storyline you might just be seeing the end of this titan of soaps - with any luck.

Roache has indeed robbed a living as an 'actor' all these decades. He's only ever been in a couple of other things in all that time, the lazy fucker. Let's hope Pat's finished him off.

Mind you, he does have a tremendous barnet for a man of his age.

Mike Oxsaw

The Sun is a newspaper read by monkeys, Coronation street is the bench mark for all soap operas that came after it and has been excellent for many years not the last 10-15 i grant you that, as no soap is realistic any more.
You might never watch soap operas Mike I did some of the acting in soaps is brilliant.
Roache is not Brando or a fantastic brilliant Actor but if you want someone to play a boring teacher who also womanises then he is your man, he does it very well.

'He might have been ok in his younger days but he's like a puppet now that struggles to move his face. (not that I watch it or anything...)'

You know Ken Barlow had a stroke a couple of months ago? He also speaks a bit slurry. Roache has his depiction of a stroke recoverer spot on.

Not that I watch it of course....

And for how long was The Sun the (news)paper with the greatest circulation/readership in the UK?

Doesn't give any indication of quality.

Re: Ken barlow
Sorry but you are all wrong William Roache is one of the most solid Soap actors ever in the world, how do I know?, well for over 50 years he has been involved in story lines that have got some of the biggest viewing figures ever .
You cannot be in something that lasts for over 50 years and be shit that is absolute bollocks. How many of you would be kept in your job if you were rubbish at it?.
Sorry but The British soap watching public believes him and there is no better barometer for TV than actual figures.
Roache is 83 years old and I have not watched any Corrie for over 15 years now used to have to watch it as women rule the TV at home.
